Black and white photographic print showing plaque affixed to the southeastern gable wall of the Mouns Jones House (see record #MJHPH60 for views of the wall showing this plaque). Among the profusion of names ascribed to Mouns Jones, "Monce" is seldom seen in the published documents. More common is "Mouns", "Mountz", and "Mounce", all phonetic distortions of his early first name "Mans", a diminutive of his Latin [possibly baptismal] name "Magnus" [literally, "great"]. At least four Swedish Kings were named Magnus in the Medieval period. A Berks County grandson of the first Manatawny/Morlatton Mouns Jones was named "Mounce", and a late 18th century Delaware house{1} was owned by a "Mount" Jones, probably a direct or collateral descendant in Mouns's lineage. {1}The architectural significance of Mount Jones's house is chronicled in Herman, Bernard, …..
