|Title||Items from 1970 archaeological dig|
Series of 8 digital images showing items recovered during an amateur archaeological dig conducted at the west eaves wall of the Mouns Jones House. The dig was led by Arthur Dickson, a teacher at Pottstown Junior High School. Mr. Dickson's volunteers and students conducted the excavation.
The items pictured are pottery fragments and shards as well a fragment of a clay tobacco pipe. Mrs. Wood, who had been a volunteer on the project, returned the depicted items to the Trust on May 17, 2011. The pottery fragments display a variety of redware design and forms, including slip-decorated soup dishes and smaller table ware. The pieces will be analyzed by experts to determine clay composition and possibly indications of date-range.
See MJHPH77--1000.01.082 and MJHPH78--1000.01.083 for original vintage photos of the dig.
